Game of Thrones season 7 finale aired last night, and already there is talk of season 8 being delayed until 2019! A report from Hollywood Reporter is saying the HBO team plans on shooting season 8 between October 2017 and August 2018, which is a much longer shooting schedule than any other Game of Thrones season. There are a few reasons for this, now that ‘Winter is here’ it requires a more specific climate for shooting times. Also the amount of effects being added will require a longer shoot schedule.
If the show doesn’t end shooting until August, that means the start date for season 8 wouldn’t be until early 2019 (potentially). With that said the most recent season premiered in June, so we could be waiting until mid-2019 until Game of Thrones returns.
