A Michigan man has become BFFs with a 30-pound wild turkey who visited his backyard and then decided to stay. Garden City resident Mark Johnston says the bird first started coming around with a hen in January, but then returned by itself in March and got cozy. “I have no kids. I’m in the middle of a divorce. I have no one at home,” Johnston told The Detroit News. “He kinda keeps me company. It gives me something to come home to.” Garden City officials fined Johnston $100 for his overgrown yard and $100 for keeping wildlife as a pet, although the latter ticket was dismissed since the homeowner proved that the turkey wasn’t actually being kept.
